Be Proud of Your Accomplishments!

It doesn’t matter how big or small the mountain you conquered is, the important thing is you conquered  it!

We have all had that satisfying feeling of accomplishment at one time or another. Whether you closed a huge deal at work or you simply finally got that last piece of the puzzle in place. The fact of the matter is “You Did It”. You didn’t give up and you pushed on right up until the end.

Take time to celebrate your accomplishments and how far you have come. Don’t focus on what you have left to do but on all you have done.  As another year draws to an end, just think of what may be in the next year. Make a plan to do something you always wanted to do or were afraid to do. Start small and see where that takes you. You will see that your self confidence and perseverance will build and allow you to shoot for the stars!

Celebrate

As you say good-bye to this year and venture into the next be willing to go where it takes you. Sometimes the unknown can be scary, but when faced head on it will usually turn out to be not nearly as scary as you thought. Once again you will experience that wonderful feeling of accomplishment.

Many famous people throughout time had no idea how their accomplishments would shape the future. Do you think that Navy engineer Richard James every thought that while he was trying to figure out how to use springs to keep the sensitive instruments aboard ships from rocking themselves to death,  that the “SLINKY” would be born. He knocked one of his prototypes over and instead of crashing to the floor, it gracefully sprang downward, and then righted itself. So pointless — so nimble — so slinky. The spring became a goofy toy of many childhoods—that is before every kid inevitably gets theirs all twisted up and ruins it. 300 million sold worldwide!

School Gardens

Thinking about building a garden for your school? Great idea! The benefits of adding a school garden are numerous and profound! Some of those include changing eating habits, improving test scores, connecting children to the environment, helping fight childhood obesity, promoting physical activity and changing attitudes towards learning.
All in all, school gardens are a great opportunity for fun and physical activity while serving as an important educational tool to help students understand how healthy food is produced.

School garden learning

Our first Lady Michelle Obama has been on a mission to encourage everyone to raise healthier children. One of the action steps she recommends is a school garden that would support all the goals that ‘Lets Move‘ campaign is trying to accomplish.

Happy Fundraising and Planting!

Be Happy!

Be Happy!

It is during these final days of the year that we reflect the most. Sometimes we get stuck focusing on the bad, what we’ve done wrong, what we could’ve done instead… . While reflecting is very important and brings us closer to the attainment of our goals, we should reflect on what brought us closer to a happiness state and what we should be grateful for. I take that a step further and bring happiness into my life by purposefully doing everyday things I know make me happy.

Here are a few things to get you focused on happiness too!
Sing and move to the beat in your car

When the right song comes on , go for it! Sing, sway to the beat, enjoy every second, don’t resist. Amazing how 3 minutes of singing in your car can elevate your mood and charge you for the day ahead!

Smile more
There are many benefits to smiling, the simplest is it makes you happy! Some of the other benefits include: smiling makes you look more attractive, it improves your mood, relieves stress, boosts the immune system and lowers blood pressure. All from a simple movement! Start smiling 🙂
Engage in a random act of kindness
Pay for someone’s coffee, help a stranger carry heavy bags, make a donation to a charity or fundraiser. It is so easy to do and it provides you with a happy feeling throughout the rest of your day. Even witnessing someone else doing a good deed can give you a feeling of joy.

Watch funny videos
One of the best ways I know to get into a ‘happy’ state is watching something funny. Like smiling, laughter has a plethora of benefits. It boosts immunity, lowers stress, decreases pain, relaxes your muscles and prevents heart disease. If done a lot it even gives your abs a workout!  So go watch a funny movie or TV show , seek out funny people, share a good joke or a funny story, host game night with friends or play with a pet.
